He felt Wallace's presence before he actually saw him.

The other nobles cowered in their castles since Mornay's murder, waiting for Wallace to come and exact his revenge for their betrayal. But Robert the Bruce welcomed the chance to pay the debt that had cost him so dear.

Wallace's hands were rough and his scarred flesh florid in the firelight. The Bruce struggled against going on his face, not wanting to lose sight of the ravaging hero. He expected the same fingers that now parted his hips to later reach up and throttle him or quickly cut his throat.

"Say it," Wallace demanded as he thrust forward.

Biting his salty lips against both pleasure and pain, the Bruce tried to speak but failed. He wanted to beg Wallace's forgiveness for his own weakness and tell him he held all the power. But he could only sigh as he shuddered with release.

Wallace grunted as he finished filling him, his iron grip softening. He then turned the Bruce to face him, revealing his own brimming blue eyes. "Have I done it?" he whispered.

"Anything. I'll say anything."

"Say only that I have finally made a man of you. That is enough."
